Loose parts are open-ended materials like corks, buttons, pinecones, lids, sticks, gems, or fabric that invite children to explore and create in endless ways.

They encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and storytelling  and remind us that learning doesn’t always come from a toy or a plan, but often from the freedom to experiment.

When materials are open-ended, imagination has no limits

During our workshop, educators had the chance to step into the role of the learner. We explored a variety of materials, built small-world invitations, and reflected on how these objects can transform play spaces and inspire deeper engagement.
